This is a great dash cam for integration with a Kenwood head unit. this is not a stand alone dash cam. all playback and file access can be done on the compatible headunit, and makes it easy to see what happened without having to take the micro sd out to a computer. aside from the dash cam function, on certain head units, you can enable several other functions, one being when you are stopped, it will beep if the vehicle in front of you have started to move but you have not.....great for you folks preoccupied with other things at stop lights. In additon, it has forward collision monitoring. it w...
I have now been using DRV-N520 for about a week and it’s working but.......of the three driving security features there is non of them that is working perfect. The Lane function bips every time I change lane(if it got info from the indicator it world work). The drive by does not make any sense as it bips whenever you waits in a cross road and a car drives by as expected. The only function which make bit of sense is the you are near the front car. It does bip when a car has overtaken you and changes lane to the lane you are driving in. That is a bit irritating.
I think Kenwood dropped the ball on this camera. It has a lot of potential but in the end its just an HD dash-cam that works most of the time.Lately I have been receiving error messages regarding the memory card. I have tried reformatting it but still no change. When it works, the picture is great. I also wish it wasn't limited to just 32GB of memory. I have it paired with the DDX9905s and the HD screen really lets the picture shine. This is why I am giving it 3 stars and that is the end of the review. Now for my JVC / Kenwood rant. You have created a dash-cam that seems completely integrated in...
The picture is 'ok", the size is perfect. I only wish I could get one of these for each of my cars without spending another thousand $ to replace the head units with a Kenwood. There are a few drawbacks:Expensive and only works with Kenwood units, but it makes me wish I could replace all my cars head units with a Kenwood.Every time I hit a bump while driving it beeps to let me know there has been an event and it locks it. I reformat my card every couple of weeks to make sure I don't run out of space. It only takes 32GB cards as a max. How ridiculous.Pros:Its size is perfect. It fits behind my re...
Works perfectly with my head unit, clear pictures, easy setup and install and received the item quickly. Only minor annoyance (not worth deducting a star) is that the delay departure warning can get a little bit buggy. Example if you are making a right turn and it doesn't detect cars in front of you because you are waiting for oncoming traffic that is coming that it does see, it will alert you. If using alerts make sure to set them up and adjust the sensitivity. Otherwise, your new 'song' will be beeps and alerts. I use it on a lifted Tacoma, which slightly causes issues with the 'following to...
